3 reasons why...Uncharted was awesome
by Matthew Meadows
8.4.08

Watch out people that have not played the game, this article may include spoilers!

1) A new foe
When Nathan thinks he finds the body of his long deceased ancestor, legendary explorer Francis Drake, the game takes an unexpected turn. Whereas the game started to feel a little bit repetitive, fighting pirates on and off until that point, we are treated to one of the most dynamic changes in a game's plot and pacing ever. I won't ruin it all for you but from there on the game becomes one of the highlights of gaming in 2007, and for me will be a moment that I will forever remember.

2) The graphics
Graphically this game was the best I had ever seen. Although this game will no doubt look dated later in the PS3’s console cycle, it will surely be remembered as the game that marked the day that graphics on Sony’s console truly became next gen. With stunning textures and brilliant views over the sea, this game sets a new standard for graphics not only on the PS3, but for every console game in this generation.

3) Change?
This soon it is impossible to tell, but Uncharted: Drake's Fortune might just have changed gaming in this generation. While most "Best Selling" games were exclusively 'Shooters' (such as Halo 3, Call of Duty 4 and Gears of War), Uncharted proved that to do well you don't have to be "all about the guns". Although some may point to other games such as Portal helping to potentially stop the influx of generic shooters, Naughty Dog's masterpiece showed developers that firepower can be used along side an interesting plot and puzzles, while still retaining an extremely large 'Fun Factor'.

(Writers note: I am not saying that I do not like Call of Duty 4, Halo 3, and Gears of War. Also, the "3 Reasons Why" title may become a series of articles).

Rock Band Official Europe Date
by Gr1mmy
8.4.08
It seems like its been a long time since Rock Band was released in the USA but finally EA has released the EU date and also the hefty price tag for Rock Band. But there is also a bad side to the news. Rock Band will be released on the 23rd of May for Xbox 360 as a timed exclusive with the PS3, PS2 and Wii versions coming later in the summer time.

The EU version of the game will have 4 exclusive tracks from Oasis, Muse, Blur and Tokio Hotel. The game has been priced at £129.99, but what you get for that is just the instruments and not the game which will be sold seperately for the regular game price of around £40. In addition all the tracks currently available for download on the US Rock Band store will be available on the Europe store on the 27th of May.

GT5 Prologue First Impressions
by Gr1mmy
3.4.08

The first thing I thought when I entered into the game was that it is a huge improvement over GT4 in terms of physics, sound and looks. There is a variety of cars that you can get for your first ride from the Ford Focus ST to the Honda Integra Type R but there are also many other cars to start with. From what I have played so far I have found the tracks very refreshing and different since I last saw them on GT4 and Forza 2.

The only thing I was disappointed with so far was the patch to allow you to play online which kept failing half way through downloading but apparently this was due to so many people downloading at the same time. So it’s looking like a chart topper for the full release, especially with all the cars, tracks and the car damage in the full version.

More soon…
