So i got back from New York last week and ive been playing Rock Band. Much like Guitar Hero it revolves around rhythm based gameplay. This game hasn't been released in Europe yet so i thought i'd give you guys the low down.
Graphics - 7
This game isn't the best looking game in terms of avatars and your band mates. You never really have time to look at your avatar when your playing songs your concentrating on the notes your hitting.
Gameplay - 10
This game is the most fun when our rocking out with your mates on all 3 instruments. Each instrument has its own way of activating "Star Power". Guitar uses the same old tilt function, drums you need to hit the pads in the fill sections and hit the symbol at the end of it and the mic just needs some sort of noise in the right section to activate.
Sound - 10
The sound is great but theres alot more bands that ive never heard of than there was in Guitar Hero 3. But all the songs are great and range from Beastie Boys to Black Sabbath.
Longevity - 10
This game could easily last forever, so far in the US they have had a steady release of new song packs every few weeks. So far there has been 56 songs added to the game and more keep coming.
Overall - 9
I have chosen 9 because this game has one let down, Its not much fun to play on your own, you need a whole group to play as its way more fun.
Quick Review - Buy it if your ever in the US but beware its huge!!!

The Burnout Review will be coming soon.
I haven't reviewed it yet for three reasons:
1) College Work
2) Its really long
3) Call of Duty is taking up my gaming time
I will get the game finished ASAP though.

Unreal Tournament III
FIFA Street 3

The Club
Dynasty Warriors 6

FIFA Street 3
Burnout Paradise
Lost Planet
The biggest game release seems to be a globalised unveiling of FIFA Street 3, but I doubt I will buy it. Unreal Tournament III is a possibility in the UK however.

Hail to the Chimp is set for a March 08 release date, and comprises of a 'fun' collection of hectic mini-games. However, not much information about the game has been released so I have a feeling that it will miss it's release date. It will arrive on 360/PS3.

I was not convinced. At first when the PS3 controller came out, I barely noticed the lack of rumble in the controller. As a consequence of this when I learnt that there was a new controller with rumble added on, I did not care much.
As time went by, the need for a new controller became more and more obvious because of many visits from friends wanting to play the PS3. Also, I wanted a spare in case the fragile six-axis controller broke. So I decided that I wanted to invest in the Dualshock3 controller, mainly because I liked the white colour scheme, but also because of the added weight.
When it arrived, I was immediately taken back by how much it weighed (the mass is similar to that of the 360 controller). This was originally quite hard to get used to, but soon I began to love the added feeling of power and was no longer worried about dropping the controller on the floor to its doom.
But the biggest feature which I noticed was in fact the rumble. When playing SuperStardust HD I would not have got the same experience that I got while going through the game (which is brilliant by the way). However, I think the rumble is most effective (out of the 5 games I have tried so far) in Warhawk. I don’t know how I played without it and it really adds another level of gameplay to the proceedings.
In conclusion, I can highly recommend this controller to anybody that doesn’t mind waiting for the time it takes to import it, or those who can wait it out until it is released in the UK/US.

I’ve recently been going through a phase of playing retro games. I don’t know why, but something recently must have sparked off a subliminal need to bring back the glory days of the PS1 and Gameboy.
First on my quest to bring back memories of the 90s was Breath of Fire III (in case you didn’t know, arguably my favourite game ever). It was horrific. Not that I’m saying the game is bad, in fact, far from it, but it wasn’t as good as it was when I was 8. It is an atrocious thing when you see a game through rose tinted specs and when you replay it; the game doesn’t feel like it did.
I moved on to pastures new and played San Francisco Rush. I quickly remembered that I hated this game when I was a kid, and I hate it even more now.
By now I was getting demoralised by my lack of success on the hunt for nostalgia. But then came a beacon. A shining example of gaming excellence. Was it Final Fantasy 7? No. Crash Bandicoot? No. In fact, it was Pokémon. As I played the memories of travelling through the USA with my brother, trading Pokémon as we went along flooded back to me. I remembered all the Gym Bosses, all the Pokémon names and all of the towns. This was truly a magnificent feeling, and led me to play Pokémon Red a lot more than should legally be allowed.
Since then I have laid the retro games to rest, and moved back to the new games which I take so much for granted (I'm looking at you Call of Duty 4).

Me and Grimmy have been on a short break from GGTL, to catch up with classwork (also because we are lazy buggers).
Anyway, I think i'd better provide some closure on the GOTY thing I was doing.
3) Resistance: Fall of Man
2) Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
1) Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Anyway, since I last posted I have bought Burnout: Paradise.
Also, I have not got the will to complete the Orange Box, as I think it is too long, too hard, and not very good (apart from Portal).
I think I had better announce this now, GGTL has now basically become a PS3 only blog, with the exception of a few games on other platforms, mine and Grimmy's attention has turned mainly towards the PS3, which is expected considering I don't have a 360 and Grimmy will probably be cancelling his XBL account soon.
You will probably notice a new design to the site, which I thought just might liven things up again.
Happy gaming,
Matt
